About Us

Peter Laczko

I am a graduate metallurgist from UNSW, with BSc degree in Metallurgy obtained in 1976.

I have worked in the production of large and small steel casting and forgings, including rolling mill rolls, shafts, gears, tubesheets, railway wheels and axles, rolling stock bogies, couplers etc, at Comsteel, Newcastle, NSW, and in Material development, failure analysis and QA of heavy mining equipment and heavy haul railway equipment at Port headland, before setting up and managing a state of the art heat treatment facility at Hofmann Engineering in Perth.

By 1992 I set up the current consulting and testing service. Our laboratory and workshop is located in Perth, Western Australia. In this laboratory we can handle 1 tonne components on pallets, prepare sections and samples from these and carry out a range of metallurgical testing as required for failure analysis work and quality testing.

Workshop equipment includes mechanical hacksaw, 14“ metallurgical water cooled cut off machine, and sample preparation equipment for metallography and hardness testing. Modern state of the art microscopes and hardness testers allow full documentation and recording of results obtained.

I am well known in Perth and other parts of Australia as being impartial and willing to provide an honest considered opinion on any metallurgical and engineering matters within my experience and knowledge.
